Marc-André Hamelin’s reputation as a musical adventurer is allied to an engaging unaffected musicianship. As at home in the classical repertoire as he is in the jaw-dropping virtuosity required in Liszt’s tone poems for piano and Alkan’s epic ‘symphony’ this programme shows this most versatile of musicians at his best.
