Wolsey Orchestra’s first concert of the season has a local flavour, opening with the World Premiere of local composer Christopher Wright’s Momentum, followed by locally born dazzling young clarinettist James Meldrum, in Finzi’s beautiful and very popular Clarinet Concerto. Originally from Great Bricett near Ipswich, James currently plays with many orchestras in London, including the Philharmonia Orchestra. The concert ends with Tchaikovsky’s Third Orchestral Suite – a magnificent showcase of mature Tchaikovsky, as full of melody and Russian drama as his famous Ballet Suites and Symphonies.
